To the men and women all over the world fighting to keep America free and those who went before them.
Below are the ones that I know personally.
Lt. Col Robert B. McMurray, my father, served his country from 1940 until 1966 as a pilot in the United States Air Force. He served during World War II and was a fighter pilot in Korea.
Harry Sheppard, my step-grandfather, served his country during World War I.
Allen T. Calhoun, my grandfather, served his country during World War I stationed in France.
Pat Simmons, my daughter's father-in-law, served his country from 1960 to 1962 in the National Guard. In 1962 he went active army and served until 1982. He served 18 months in Korea, 5 1/2 years at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas and spent 13 years on and off in Germany.
Jerry Simmons, my son-in-law, served his country in the Gulf War and in the Dominican Republic. He served from March 1985 until February of 1997. He is now in the National Guard.
Larry Reynolds served his country in Viet Nam.
Rob Canterbury, my son, and his grandfather Robert H. Canterbury both served in the Army, the older Canterbury serving in World War II.
